Cork's Best Shopping Areas

If it’s shopping you are looking for Cork City centre has lots to offer be it high street, boutiques or crafts there is something for everyone. The City is compact and easy to navigate around. It’s easy to lose yourself in one of the many quaint side streets or wandering through the famous English Market listening to the local traders telling their stories. You might even catch a glimpse of some of the local actors from “The Young Offenders” which was filmed in the market and around the City.

Patrick Street

Situated just 500m away from Maldron Hotel South Mall is Patrick Street, the main shopping street in the city. Patrick Street, a 6-minute walk from the hotel, offers a wide selection of high street retailers and independent traders selling the best of Cork local crafts and produce. It has many side streets feeding off it with some of the city’s best cafés and restaurants where you can sample some of Cork unique delicatessens including Spiced Beef, Tripe and Drisheen, Chester Cake or some Shandon Sweets.

Opera Lane

Opera Lane is an open-air shopping district in the heart of the city, 600m from Maldron Hotel South mall, adjacent to The Cork Opera House and the Crawford Art Gallery. A short 8-minute walk away, Opera lane offers a selection of high street fashion stores, beauty retailers, tech retailers and cafés. Opera lane is home to many fashion, style and music events.

Merchants Quay

Merchants Quay is located 350m away, and just a short 4-minute walk from Maldron Hotel South Mall. The centre has three large department stores including Carraig Donn, Born, Marks and Spencer’s and Dunnes Stores. There is also a supermarket in the centre.

Brown Thomas

Brown Thomas is home to a lot of Irish and International brands in fashion, accessories and homewares. There is also a personal shopper onsite to help you find that something special you have been searching for. The department store is located on Patrick Street, at the very centre of Cork City, just 400m away and 5-minutes walk from our hotel.

Mahon Point

Mahon Point offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, cafes and a multi-screen cinema. The shopping centre is only a 15-minute drive from the hotel and is also easily accessible by public transport.

The centre holds Cork’s largest Farmers’ Market bringing together a diverse range of local artisan food producers and farmers every Thursday morning from 10am to 2.00pm.

The centre also holds regular events including Sixty Minute Restyle, Halloween Fancy Dress and a Christmas Wonderland.
