City Explorer

Morning:

Get your runners on and grab a coffee from our Red Bean Roastery. Walk through the City enjoying the burst of colour and vibrancy that has been added to the City through the contemporary street art Ardu Project. The project includes 7 murals dotted around the City, designed and painted by some of Ireland top contemporary artists including Deirdre Breen and James Earley.

Afternoon:

Enjoy a stroll along the Marina stopping at the Marina Market, Cork’s new food and craft market. The market brings new life and energy to one of the city’s oldest industrial sites just a short stroll from the city centre on the banks of the River Lee. From there you can stroll to Blackrock Castle along the water’s edge spotting many rowers and sailors enjoying the City’s water.

Evening:

After a busy day, relax and dine in our Grain & Grill Restaurant where our Head Chef Conor Hawes and the team have created a delicious menu with a mixture of local and traditional cuisines. Enjoy a local artisan beer or gin or let our bar staff shake a cocktail for you. After dinner, you can stroll to Oliver Plunkett Street parallel to the hotel and enjoy one of the many gigs on offer in the busy Cork bars, or just relax in our Bar and watch the world go by.

The Food Lover

Morning:

Cork is Ireland’s Foodie Capital and there’s no better introduction to Cork’s foodie scene than the fantastic English Market less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The market has been trading since 1788 and has become increasingly popular as a visitor attraction in Cork City Centre since the visit of the Queen and the filming of the Young Offenders. Sample some of the local offering, there is plenty to choose from.

Afternoon:

Take a drive to Kinsale, famous for its colourful streetscapes occupied with artisan shops, cafés and galleries including The Giles Norman. Kinsale town is a vibrant coastal town with delicious seafood restaurants and pop-up’s serving delicious fish and chips caught daily. While in Kinsale visit Kinsale Mead and learn how this “honey wine,” the world’s oldest alcoholic drink is made. While in Kinsale take a harbour cruise and see a different view of the town including a Charles Fort, which was built in the late 1600s. It had a garrison up until the 1920s.

The Adventurer

Morning:

Take a trip to Cobh and hop on a ferry to Spike Island, formerly the world’s largest prison. Today you can explore the museums and see what prison life looked like, beautiful scenic walks, child-friendly areas, cafés and more. Voted Ireland’s leading tourist attraction in 2017!

Afternoon:

Zipit located 25km away in Farren woods, is a short 24-minute drive from the hotel. Adventure in the trees awaits all age groups. You can climb high into the treetops, swing into cargo nets, even ride a BMX across a bridge, before zipping down one of our many ziplines.

Don’t feel like zipping around the woods there are two walking trails to suit moderate levels of fitness. The Enclosure Trail (1.1 km,) will take you around the perimeter of the deer enclosure and duck pond offering clear viewing of the mammals and birds; the Woodland Loop (3 km) gives the walker a chance to experience the full park which includes the homeward leg beside Inniscarra Lake.

The wildlife enclosure holds a herd of red and fallow deer along with some very friendly ducks. Watching the deer antics with their impressive antlers during the rutting season in autumn and then with their young in the spring, is reason enough to come to the Park.

Evening:

Enjoy a local beer and a delicious wood fire pizza in one of the City’s local breweries. The Franciscan Well Bar & Brewery is based on the site of a medieval monastery, which was home to the “holy well” from which their name derives. The brewery has a large outdoor area and is the perfect way to finish off your day!

The Wild Atlantic Way Explorer

Cork is the perfect beginning of your adventure along the Wild Atlantic Way. You can follow the route from Kinsale on to Clonakilty, over to Skibbereen past Roaring Water Bay and the Islands, then up to dreamy Bantry Bay and Sheep’s Head peninsula before turning west around the Beara peninsula and up into Kenmare in County Kerry.

While in Cork you can drive to the most southerly point in Ireland Mizen Head where you can cross the iconic bridge high above the gorge; watch for seals and their pups in the swell below. There is a visitor centre onsite where you can learn more about the signal station.
